Pony Baseball Divisions
Pony Baseball is open to both boys and girls and divides its divisions strictly by age. Your child's age is determined by how old he or she will be as of April 30 in the year they are participating in spring league play. For fall ball play, age is as of April 30 of the following year (i.e. next spring play)

Baseball Divisions
Shetland Ages 5-6 Introduction to the game of baseball begins here! Shetland focuses on instruction for the beginning player, teaching basic and fundamental baseball skills. Completely non-competitive with use of a batting tee for hitting. No evaluation required.
Pinto Ages 7-8 Pinto continues with basic instruction on fundamental baseball skills, with focus more on hitting, fielding and baserunning. Still non-competitive; coaches do the picthing. No evaluation required.
Mustang Ages 9-10 First entry into the complete game of baseball. Mustang has kids pitching, leading off, limited stealing, sliding, bunting and offensive/defensive strategy. This is a competitive level, and win/loss standings are maintained. Evaluation is required, but all players will make a team.
Bronco Ages 11-12 Bronco level takes the young player into the full game of baseball, with no restrictions on stealing, larger fields, stronger defenses and more experienced pitchers. It is fully competitive. Evaluations are required but all players will make a team.
Pony Ages 13-14 The Pony division is a much more advanced and competitive level of baseball. Players and coaches focus on advanced fundamental skills at a high level of play. Evaluations are required. Pony competes in a Monterey County League with teams from other neighboring cities.
Colt Ages 15-16 The Colt division starts their season after the high school season ends, with most at the Colt level also playing high school baseball. Players play on MLB size fields and the competition is intense! Note that PG does not currently run a Colt league.
