Pre-Season Update

Hello everyone! Just wanted to send another soccer update. There's a lot going on so this email may be long. Please pay particular attention to the "THIS WEEK" section and RSVP please!

NEW PLAYER AND COACH
We have a new player on our roster! I'd like to welcome Nellie Albritton to the team. Along with Nellie, her dad Matt is joining us as an assistant coach. Matt will have big shoes to fill as it was said last year that I was the best assistant coach in the league. (Yes, it was me that said it, but still.. it was said!)

UNIFORMS
I've only received one request for a uniform so far. So if you need a uniform, please let me know ASAP! I'm going to be putting the order in very soon. I've learned that the cost is $28. If you need a full uniform or part of a uniform, please let me know the size.

COACHES MEETING
The coaches meeting is Monday, August 14th. That is when I will lock in our practice day, time, and location. Thanks to everyone who provided input on practice days. Right now it looks like Thursday is the best day for everyone. I will do my best to get a Thursday time, preferably 5:30, and preferably on the field near the armory where we practiced last year.

FIRST GAME
Like last year, it looks like the first game will be the weekend following the coaches meeting. I believe our first game will be on Saturday, August 19th. That isn't official yet, though.

THIS WEEK
I was able to reserve a practice time for us this week! Sorry for the short notice, but if you're available on Thursday, August 10th at 5:30, please attend practice at Upper Armory field. For those of you returning, this is the same field we used last year. For new players, this field is above/behind the high school turf field in Tower Park. It is next to a big parking lot full of Army trucks so if you so those, you'll know you're close! If you need better directions, please let me know. Given that it's such short notice, please RSVP for practice this week so I know who will be there! Last year I think we had to play our first game before we had our first practice and that is not ideal.

PRACTICES
Practices will run for 90 minutes. Please bring a size 4 ball, something to drink, cleats (now's a good time to make sure these still fit!), and shin guards. The drink is very important! It's going to be hot out there. I will bring some extra water as well. I will have some extra balls so if you don't have one, that's ok, but I don't have enough for everyone so if you do have one, please bring it. There is no need for you to stay at practice with your child, though you are certainly welcome to.

SNACKS
Is there any interest in doing snacks/drinks after games? I can go either way on this so please let me know. If there is interest, I can put together a snack schedule once we receive the game schedule.Ok, that's it for now. I hope everyone is getting excited for the season!
